Chelsea are ready to offload Emerson Palmieri to Inter Milan – but only after they’ve secured a replacement for the Italian.
Antonio Conte is keen on a reunion with the full-back, with the Serie A club ready to bid £25m, according to the Independent.
Emerson has played a bit-part role under Frank Lampard, despite impressing under Maurizio Sarri, due to the resurgence of Marcos Alonso.
Chelsea are now ready to offload the former – but only after lining up a replacement.
The Blues are sweet on Leicester’s Ben Chilwell, who is also being watched by champions Manchester City.
if Chelsea are successful, they’ll allow Emerson to leave for Italy before the month is out.
Alonso is also being eyed by Inter if they fail in their bid to land his Stamford Bridge team-mate.
Chelsea recently had their transfer ban lifted after being unable to bring in new recruits in the summer.
Emerson could be on his way this month
And Lampard has admitted his side will be active this month.
“I know we haven’t done anything yet so there is no proof in that but we are joined up,” he said.
“I have very close conversations with Marina [Granovskaia, the director], Petr Cech [the technical and performance adviser] and Scott [McLachlan], who is the head of our recruitment department.
“They know what I want and I will be fundamentally in the middle of who and what we bring into the club.
“As it stands we are very open about that. If it feels right from my side, on the footballing point, in January, and from the club side in January, then we will make the moves we make. It is a joined-up effort.”
