Aston Villa want Michy Batshuayi on loan until the end of the season.
The Chelsea outcast has struggled under Frank Lampard, falling down the pecking order behind Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.
Villa Park hitman Wesley has been ruled out until the end of the season with an ACL injury, meaning Dean Smith is on the hunt for a replacement.
French outlet Foot Mercato write that a loan move is the Premier League club’s preferred option.
But Villa also want the option to purchase the player at the end of the season.
Batshuayi has played 12 times in the Premier League this season for Chelsea but has not started from the outset in any.
The Belgian has enjoyed loan spells away from Stamford Bridge at the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Crystal Palace.
Villa may face trouble, however, as Chelsea plan transfer deals of their own.
Michy Batshuayi has had a difficult Chelsea career to date
The club are keen on Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, who is valued at around £80m by the Eagles.
The Blues have been a fan of the Ivorian for a number of months and are finally allowed to sign players again after their transfer ban was lifted.
Chelsea are unlikely to meet the player’s valuation but do have both Giroud and Batshuayi to offer in a bid to bring the cost of any potential transfer down.
Aston Villa striker Wesley was forced off with a knee injury after being tackled by Burnley defender Ben Mee
The Telegraph claim both strikers are available as potential makeweights as they seek a Stamford Bridge exit.
Chelsea are also interested in Lyon’s Moussa Dembele.
Aston Villa purchased Wesley for £22m in the summer, with the Brazilian enjoying mixed success so far this term.
The striker scored in the 2-1 win over Burnley yesterday before being injured by Ben Mee.
