Man Utd in Fernandes hope
Gedson Fernandes is expected to leave Benfica in January, after holding a number of meetings with his agent over potential destinations.
The 20-year-old is reportedly wanted by Manchester United and Portuguese publication Record are reporting that Benfica will allow Fernandes to depart this month.
He is believed to have fallen out with manager Bruno Lage, managing just two league starts all season and being left out of the squad in their last three games.
Desperate for regular first team football, United, Lyon and AC Milan are all said to be monitoring the youngster.
Fernandes recently changed agents from Miguel Pinho to Pini Zahavi, someone with noted Premier League contacts, in order to ‘give a new direction’ to his career, according to another Portuguese publication A Bola.
The two have held a number of meetings about Fernandes’ future and, although there is yet to be a formal offer made for his services, Benfica are willing to let him go for a fee much lower than his reported £102m release clause.
