Morris provides Chelsea team news update ahead of Nottingham Forest

Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest

Chelsea will play host to Nottingham Forest in the 3rd round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

The two outfits faced off in the same round last season, with Chelsea coming out on top.

And a similar result will likely be on the cards this weekend, with Forest having not picked up a win over Chelsea in any competition since 1997. The Blues have come out on top in the two clubs’ last six meetings.

The FA Cup should also represent a great chance for Frank Lampard to garner his first silverware as Chelsea boss.

Chelsea have won the competition on eight occasions, with their latest triumph having come in 2018 under Antonio Conte.

Morris on Chelsea team news

Ahead of the 3rd round tie, Chelsea’s assistant manager, Jody Morris, would hold the pre-Nottingham Forest press conference on Friday.

Morris would address Frank Lampard’s absence during the presser, stating that the Chelsea boss is dealing with a bug.

Morris is on Lampard’s absence: “He has got a bit of a bug. He has had it for a week to 10 days and the older you get the harder it is to shake. No, he will be alright” #CFC

As well as providing an update on his boss, Morris also gave an update on the Chelsea squad.

Morris confirmed that both Marcos Alonso and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are out injured.

The Chelsea coach then went on to state that Fikayo Tomori trained on Friday, but he isn’t feeling the best, whilst Olivier Giroud is okay:

“Injury wise, Alonso is out. Ruben is out. Apart from that we are still having a look at a few players in the fallout from Brighton. At the moment, it is looking good apart from them two. Fik trained today and is not feeling the best, Olivier is okay”
