Aston Villa have made Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud their transfer top target.
Dean Smith’s side are embroiled in a relegation scrap and have mounting injury issues.
Brazil international Wesley has been ruled out for the rest of the season after he suffered knee ligament damage.
Goalkeeper Tom Heaton endured a similar injury and will also be out of action for at least six months.
A new centre-forward is a January priority.
And, according to The Athletic , Smith is keen to make a move for Giroud.

The France international has become a peripheral figure in west London.
But he has a wealth of Premier League experience and will be allowed to leave if a suitable replacement is sourced.
Giroud has started just two top-flight games this season.
Speaking earlier this season, the talented target man hinted that he needs to play more regularly.
“I’m going to fight for my place in Chelsea,” he explained.
“The coach knows it. And we will make the decision in January.
“If I want to leave Chelsea? Not necessarily.

“But if I need to make a choice… I have some beautiful years in front of me.
“I’m 33, I still have legs and a good healthy lifestyle and I feel good physically.
“I want to have fun and want to play more games.
“Chelsea is my priority, but if in the end I’m forced to make a choice, I will do it as when I left Arsenal.”
Villa still have Jonathan Kodjia on the books.
However, Smith isn’t a big fan of the 30-year-old and he’ll only be used to lead the line until a replacement is sourced.
