After an unusually quiet summer transfer window Chelsea are set for a rather busier January of buying and selling.
Frank Lampard will have the chance to bolster his squad ahead of an assault on the Champions League knock outs stages and the second half of a season-long fight for a top four finish.
The former midfielder returned to Stamford Bridge in July as the new head coach after impressing as manager of Derby County last season.

Fortunately for Lampard, that punishment was reduced following a successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) that reduced the ban to one window.
With the club having served that sentence in the summer they will be able to bring in new players in the January transfer window should they choose to do so.
There is the argument that Chelsea do not need to make any signings – certainly some supporters share this view – with the team already in good shape and performing well.
