Chelsea have Nathan Ake in the sights but Frank Lampard wants to see what other transfers he can pull off first before turning to the Bournemouth defender.
The Blues have been let off the leash in the transfer market after a FIFA ban on signing new players was lifted.
It means that the west London club have the chance to go on a spending spree after failing to utilise their vast wealth in the summer – and several players are being lined up.
Lampard is keen on signing a new striker – that is his priority – and the likes of Timo Werner, Gabriel Barbosa and Moussa Dembele have been linked.
But a winger, a left-back and a centre-back are also on the shopping list.
Bournemouth star Ake is one man strongly reported to be heading back to Stamford Bridge after leaving in 2017 for the Cherries.
Chelsea have a £40m buy-back clause, giving them a boost ahead of the likes of Manchester City , Tottenham and Manchester United , who are also linked.
Nathan Ake has been linked with a move to Chelsea
However, according to the Express , Lampard wants to look at other transfers before completing a move for the Dutchman.
With other areas of the squad needing more urgent surgery, the Englishman is keen to sort out these problems before signing a defender.
And the fact that they can trigger the buy-back clause whenever they want this month also allows some breathing space at the Blues.
