FA Cup holders Manchester City are in the hat for the fourth round, along with most of the Premier League’s big boys after a third round which saw few upsets.
Phil Foden starred in their 4-1 win over Port Vale, making one goal and scoring another, as plenty of youngsters were handed the opportunity to show case their talents across the 39 games.
Liverpool despatched rivals Everton thanks to academy graduate Curtis Jones’ wonder strike, while Manchester United will take Wolves back to Old Trafford after grinding out a goalless draw at Molineux.
Tottenham were also held to a draw by Championship outfit Middlesbrough, after which boss Jose Mourinho bizarrely blamed the ball by claiming it was too light.
“I think this ball is beach ball. It’s too light. I don’t think it helps the players. But that’s not an excuse,” he told BT Sport.
Mourinho wasn’t happy with Middlesbrough’s goal either, suggesting it would have been ruled out by VAR if the system had been in use.
