Frank Lampard relayed a simple message to his Chelsea side on Sunday in London – get the ball to Callum Hudson-Odoi and let him play.
The youngster has recently come in for some criticism for his performances of late but put on a show at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup.
Chelsea are through to the fourth round of the competition after a simple 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest after goals from Hudson-Odoi and Ross Barkley.
And the 19-year-old was the one to break the deadlock after just six minutes after cutting in from the right-hand side before slotting past Jordan Smith.
The scores were doubled shortly after the half-hour mark when the teenager’s effort was diverted into the pathway of Barkley, who tapped it in.
Lampard has showed his faith in the youngster, who has recently come back from a serious Achilles injury.
The Athletic reported that the Chelsea legend frequently told his side to keep giving the ball to Hudson-Odoi.
Furthermore, he informed the England international to keep being aggressive with the ball – driving at defenders and forcing them back.
