The three transfers Chelsea must make in January to complete Frank Lampard’s squad

Frank Lampard can feel satisfied with his work so far at Chelsea.

The former midfield talisman has the Blues in the thick of the fight for a top four spot in the Premier League and will return to the Champions League in February with a round of 16 clash with Bayern Munich.

It will be eight years in the summer since the 41-year-old helped the Blues to lift the trophy in Europe’s most important club competition at the home of the Bavarian giants.

Chelsea will head to Germany hoping to pull off another upset in 2020 – and while they may have played well for Lampard in the first half of his debut season as head coach back at Stamford Bridge, a bit more quality would not go amiss in the transfer window.

If Chelsea are looking for a quick way to get a defender in, then Nathan Ake is the one they will target.

With a re-buy clause in his move to Bournemouth, Chelsea could get the Dutchman for £40m, which would be pretty cheap for the 24-year-old.

He is left-footed as well and can cover at left-back in a pinch should the Blues let Marcos Alonso or Emerson go in January.
