The January transfer window is officially open for business as clubs brace themselves for the madness that a transfer window normally brings.

Premier League sides are llooking to strengthen their squads for the second half of the campaign, with teams at both ends of the table needing boosts for different reasons.

The 2020 January transfer window opened on January 1 and closes on January 31.

United chase Fernandes

Manchester United are to revive their interest in Bruno Fernandes, according to the latest reports.

The Portuguese midfielder was a target for the club in the summer transfer window, although a move never materialised.

However, according to Goal, United will target Fernandes again with Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay both ruled out with injury.

Fernandes signed a new contract with Sporting in November that runs through until 2023 and saw his release clause increased to €100 million (£85m/$111m).

Meanwhile, according to The Athletic, Villa boss Smith is keen to make a move for Giroud, who is seen as their first-choice target after an injury to Wesley.

Chelsea are unlikely to sanction a move for Giroud, either on loan or permanently, until a replacement is sourced.
