Chelsea have reportedly offered to pay £55m for Gedson Fernandes, with the Benfica star initially moving to Stamford Bridge on loan.
The Portuguese midfielder has been linked with a whole host of Premier League clubs after finding himself out of favour at Benfica, with Everton , West Ham and Manchester United all said to be in for Fernandes.
However the Blues are now in the driving seat according to Sky Sports , after sending a representative to Lisbon to negotiate the deal.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Transfer Show, Dharmesh Sheth revealed: “One of the guys who is close to this deal has just sent me his location, you know you can do that on a WhatsApp can’t you.
“He sent me his own location, the representative and he is in Lisbon talking to Gedson Fernandes at Benfica.
“That’s the story at the minute. Chelsea have made an offer for the Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes.
“It breaks down as follows it’s an 18-month loan deal with the obligation to buy him for £55million provided that during that spell he plays a minimum of 50 percent for those games.

“West Ham United are of course in for him as well, their offer is almost 18-month loan, their obligation £33m, so £22m less than Chelsea’s.
“Significantly they would require him to play less in the 18-month loan spell to trigger than obligation.
“The big question is where is Gedson Fernandes likely to play more football? Also, which deal is likely to get Benfica the payout that they want from this deal?
“Looking at the numbers and the clubs, West Ham would provide Gedson Fernandes with more first-team football on a more regular basis.”
