Chelsea’s first half of the season under Frank Lampard has been decent enough but a slip in recent months has shown there is still plenty of work to be done.
The Blues return to Premier League action this weekend with a clash against Burnley, fresh from securing their spot in the fourth-round of the FA Cup with a victory against Nottingham Forest.
In the middle of all the football action, the January transfer window continues to churn and the month presents Lampard with his first opportunity to bolster the squad following the transfer ban in the summer.

Sancho deal off
Borussia Dortmund are determined to keep hold of Jadon Sancho and a January transfer away from the Bundesliga club is off the cards, according to Sky Sports.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all reportedly been keen on bringing the England international back to the Premier League but there has also been interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Tied down until 2022, Sancho has no release clause in his contract with Dortmund and the club feel they would not be able to sign a suitable replacement this month – tabling the transfer saga until the summer.
Giroud swap for Dembele
Chelsea are pushing to bring Moussa Dembele to the club from Lyon and have offered Olivier Giroud in exchange for the highly-rated striker, according to reports.
The 23-year-old, also linked with Manchester United and Chelsea, has attracted vast interest this month despite the Ligue 1 side releasing a statement making it clear they will not consider a sale.
However, that has seemingly not put Chelsea off as the Blues are said to have tabled an offer of €47m plus Giroud – which works out at…
