Chelsea news: Moussa Dembele transfer stance, Jadon Sancho decision made, key January concerns

The January transfer window is now open, but Chelsea are yet to sign any players.

The Blues are now able to sign players this month, after the club’s transfer ban was reduced following an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

However, no new players have arrived in the first week of the window.

One player has departed, with Danny Drinkwater returning from a loan spell at Burnley, before then heading out on loan to Aston Villa.

But what is the latest on other potential transfers this month? We take a look at the latest Chelsea news below ahead of the Blues’ clash with Burnley this weekend in the Premier League.

Lyon confirm Dembele transfer stance

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a January move to sign Lyon forward Moussa Dembele.

And Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that there have been offers for the 23-year-old, who has scored ten times in 18 appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season.

However, he has suggested that he won’t be going anywhere in the January transfer window, despite the interest in him.

In comments released on Lyon’s official website, and translated by Get French Football News , Aulas played down the prospects of Dembele leaving.

“Moussa Dembele will not leave because he wants to stay to win something with Lyon,” he said.

“There have been offers for him and for other players but none of those that we want to keep will leave in January.”

He added: “We will only do deals that correspond with what our sporting director, board members and manager want.”
