Lemar struggling at Atletico
Thomas Lemar made the switch to Atletico Madrid from AS Monaco in July of 2018.
The Frenchman was a part of that frightening Monaco squad that reached the Champions League semi-final in 2017.
That squad had top talents such as Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva and Fabinho in it.
And much like the aforementioned stars, Lemar would be just one of many top players Monaco have lost in recent times.
Lemar would score 22 and assist 33 in 127 appearances across all competitions for the French outfit.
But since his big-money move to Spain, for a fee believed to be around £63m, Lemar has struggled somewhat.
In 64 outings for Atletico, the 24-year-old has scored just three and provided six assists.
Lemar is also yet to score or assist for the Spanish powerhouse this season.
Lemar to Premier League?
Now Lemar, who is contracted to Atletico until 2023, is being linked with a move to the Premier League.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea have been offered the chance to enter the race for Lemar.
The report from the ES claims the Blues are keen to sign a wide player. And Chelsea have been linked with Crystal Palace forward, Wilfried Zaha.
But the Standard also claims Chelsea are thought to be baulking at the £80m price tag Palace have put on Zaha.
So, could Chelsea opt to sign Lemar over the Palace standout?
The report from the ES alleges that Lemar could be available on loan for a fee of around £5m or at around £50m for a permanent deal.
