The key here will be how Chelsea can find a way to get around another team that will attempt to sit back and frustrate at Stamford Bridge. Burnley have a good record in West London and they will be in confident mood having seen how Southampton, West Ham and Bournemouth have succeeded in frustrating the Blues in recent weeks.
Lampard has called for his players to be more courageous and will be interesting to see which defensive midfield combination he opts for as Jorginho has not been creative enough in recent appearances despite Chelsea’s best performances of the season coming when he has partnered Mateo Kovacic during N’Golo Kante’s spell out injured.
Elsewhere it will be intriguing to see if Callum Hudson-Odoi gets the nod with Christian Pulisic fighting fatigue and a minor hamstring injury after the England international did os well against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup last Sunday.
Reece James’s crossing from right back will be key and Cesar Azpilicueta should start on the left.
Alan’s team: Kepa; James, Rudiger, Zouma, Azpilicueta; Jorginho, Kante; Willian, Mount, Hudson-Odoi; Abraham.
