Frank Lampard has ruled out a Chelsea exit for Andreas Christensen in the January transfer window, insisting he is a fan of the player.
Christensen, 23, has struggled to hold down a starting spot in Lampard’s side this season, making just eight Premier League appearances so far.
And according to reports in Italy, AC Milan are eyeing up a potential deal for the Denmark international this month.
Lampard, though, has shut down any chance of Christensen departing Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window, hailing the centre-back’s “height, athleticism and quality on the ball”.
“I can rule it out. I like Andreas as a player; I’ve always liked him. I used to train with him and saw the talent coming through,” he said.
“I want Andreas to be the best he can be. When you see the height, the athleticism and the quality on the ball. The reality is we have competition at centre-back here.

“I have to choose on what I see and generally two of them won’t be happy.”
Christensen joined Chelsea as a 15-year-old in 2012, climbing through the club’s academy ranks to eventually make his first-team debut two years later.
He has since racked up 84 appearances for the Blues, spending 2015-17 away on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.
