Are Chelsea about to ‘pull another Willian’ on Tottenham by beating them to one of their transfer targets this window?
Well, if the latest report via The Telegraph is to be believed, Chelsea are ahead of Tottenham in their pursuit to sign Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar.
They state that Chelsea have pulled ahead by making an offer for the French international.
The deal being spoken about would be an initial loan, so this could suit Chelsea as they await to try and sign alleged primary target Jadon Sancho in the summer.
23-year old Lemar has not really cut it in La Liga since joining Atletico from Monaco. But a lot is due to a different style of play with Lemar thriving in an attacking system.
However, it will be a risk for Chelsea, but if the move is a just a loan and does not come with a definitive purchase clause and only comes with an option to buy, then I think this could be a wise move.
