The reason N’Golo Kante was not in Chelsea’s squad to face Burnley at Stamford Bridge

N’Golo Kante was the big omission from Chelsea’s matchday squad to face Burnley at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has struggled with injuries throughout the campaign and it was another issue that saw him in the stands for the match.

Kante picked up a hamstring injury in training, to add to his frustrations and cause something of an issue for Frank Lampard.

It is seen as a minor injury for now, but we will get the full reaction from the Chelsea boss after the game in his press conference.

With the France World Cup winner not in the team, Lampard went with a midfield three of Jorginho, Ross Barkley and Mason Mount.

Out of the 21 Premier League matches so far, Kante has only managed 12 starts with injuries to his hamstring, knee and groin over the course of the campaign.

There was another surprise at the back, however, with Andreas Christensen getting a rare Premier League start, with Antonio Rudiger in the centre as well.
