As the days tick on, Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is getting closer and closer to completing his move to Inter.
As reported by the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Giroud will join his former Chelsea coach Antonio Conte in Serie A for £6 million.
Olivier Giroud is getting closer to Inter. The French striker agreed personal terms yesterday (contract until June 2022) – now Inter and Chelsea are ‘close and confident’ to find total agreement on next days (around €5/6M to Chelsea). 🇫🇷 #transfers #Chelsea #Inter #CFC

Chelsea will then be left with Tammy Abraham, and Michy Batshuayi as their only recognised strikers. As fatigued sets in and the risk of injuries increase, it will be a risk that I don’t want to see Lampard taking if he decides not to replace Giroud.
Not only that, the form of Batshuayi has been poor, and he doesn’t look like he could step up if Abraham was injured or suspended.
But Lampard has said they do not need a replacement for him. Sorry Frank, I disagree.
Lampard adds: “I think his agent has spoken to the club but until we decide it is the right thing then he can leave”
He went onto say that Chelsea don’t need a replacement to sell him

Gaining Champions League football this season is hugely important financially, and being able to attract players in the summer.
Not replacing Giroud will play a part in risking not getting top 4, I think that statement is hard to disagree with.
