Chelsea and Manchester United have been told any attempts to sign Moussa Dembele this month will fall on deaf ears.
The former Celtic and Fulham striker has emerged as a January target for both Premier League clubs this month.
Frank Lampard wants competition for Tammy Abraham while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to strengthen his forward options to ease the pressure on Marcus Rashford.
But Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas insists Dembele won’t be leaving before the January 31 deadline.
“We have not changed our minds. We already made this issue clear in August,” said Aulas.
“Moussa is an excellent player. A player who we need.
“We are taking explicit measures in our recruitment to not bring someone in who will compete for his position.
“It is not a question of money. Moussa will be with us.”
Moussa Dembele looks set to stay put at Lyon until at least the summer
The news will come as a blow to Chelsea and United with recent reports suggesting Dembele had been open to a Premier League switch.
Aulas even confirmed last week the club had received offers but it seems the Blues and Red Devils will need to turn their attention elsewhere.
Aulas told Lyon’s official website: “Moussa Dembele will not leave because he wants to stay to win something with Lyon.

“There have been offers for him and for other players but none of those that we want to keep will leave in January.”
United are chasing midfielder Bruno Fernandes following successful talks with Sporting Lisbon over a deal on Friday.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are yet to sign anyone despite Lampard thought to have £150m at his disposal.
