Manchester United look set to miss out on transfer target Boubakary Soumare who is leaning towards a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea .
Soumare is a box-to-box midfielder who is known for his defensive ability, and could have been utilised as a midfield partner for the incoming Bruno Fernandes.
However, an update from Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol suggests that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need to look elsewhere if he wants to cover for the injured Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.
“Arsenal were looking at him, Real Madrid were looking at him as well and we were told that Spurs were interested in him as well,” Solhekol said on Thursday.
“But at the moment it is down to Chelsea or Manchester United.
“We’re being told very, very clearly that he will move to the Premier League this month and it will be Chelsea or Manchester United.
“It is up to him now to decide where he wants to go and we’re being told this evening that he is very tempted by Manchester United but get this, he is slightly, slightly leaning towards Chelsea at the moment.”
Solhekol went on to reveal that talks are ongoing, with the player set to cost over £40m.

He added: “There were talks between Manchester United and Lille and also Chelsea yesterday morning, we’re being told.
“How much would he cost? Well he would cost more than £40million but he is one of the most sought after young midfielders in Europe.
“He was discovered by the Lille sporting director Luis Campos and he is a man who has played a key role in the development such as Anthony Martial, Fabinho, James Rodriguez, Kylian Mbappe and Bernardo Silva.
“So it looks like Boubakary Soumare is the real deal. He wants to leave Lille, he wants to play in the Premier League.
