World’s best football stadiums: Starsport writers deliver their verdict

Which club or national team plays in the best football stadium in the world? It’s not an answer we expect everyone to agree on – particularly because we here at Starsport can’t either!

After a hearty debate (IE: full-blow argument) in the office last week about our worst football stadiums in Britain piece, this week we’ve opted for a more cheery spin on the theme.

Our team of sports writers have pitched in and stated a claim for their favourite grounds from across the world.

There’s one clear winner here, with a few niche choices joining familiar favourites both from the UK and abroad.

As an English football fan, should there be any other answer than our very own Wembley?

Yes, the new version may have lost a fair bit of it’s charm, but it’s still one hell of a stadium, and will hopefully host some epic matches at this year’s Euro 2020.

The excess amount of games that have been played there (Tottenham home games, FA Cup semi-finals etc) has ruined a bit of the magic, but make no mistake, the hallowed turf of Wembley is something that should always be treasured.
