Olivier Giroud’s time in English football might not be coming to an end after all.
Well, at least for now.
The Frenchman has had a frustrating season thus far with only seven appearances for the Blues across all competitions as Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi are ahead of him in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

With Euro 2020 fast approaching, the 33-year-old has been urged to leave west London in order to play more regularly during the second half of the season.

During the week, all signs were pointing towards Giroud being reunited with Antonio Conte at the San Siro in the coming days after reportedly agreeing terms with the Serie A outfit.
The Standard even reported that the ex-Arsenal striker was to undergo his medical with Inter as early as this weekend.
Whilst the Frenchman was left out of the squad which made the trip to St James’ Park on Saturday, it’s not been confirmed if he was in Italy for medical tests.
However, the likelihood is that he wasn’t as there’s a chance his move to Inter could fall through.
One reason for a delay has been down to Inter’s need to offload a player as La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the Frenchman was not able to join Inter until Matteo Politano was off the books.
The Italian had been spotted in Rome ahead of a move to AS Roma in swap deal involving Leonardo Spinazzola, but it’s now been reported that the deal has broken down.
So unless Inter can reach an agreement for Politano’s exit before deadline day, Giroud could very well be staying at Chelsea and Frank Lampard won’t get a windfall to boost his transfer budget.
