Aston Villa are doing all they can to sign Chelsea’s out of favour striker Olivier Giroud.
The Premier League strugglers are pulling out all the stops to sign a forward having seen Wesley ruled out for the season.
Jonathan Kodija has also moved on this month leaving Dean Smith with next to no options in attack as he plots their survival bid.
It has led to them targeting Giroud, who is known to want a Stamford Bridge exit having struggled for first team football, reports Le10Sport.
The Frenchman is trying to force his way into his county’s Euro 2020 squad and firing Villa to safety wouldn’t harm his chances.
Giroud had looked set to join former manager Antonio Conte at Inter Milan, but the deal is being held up for several reasons.
Despite there being an agreement in place between the player and the club, Inter and Chelsea cannot settle on a deal.
The Italian side also need to usher Matteo Politano out of the door which had looked set to happen before his move to Roma collapsed.
And Beppe Marotta, Inter’s general manager, admits they will have to reassess the situation regarding Giroud.

He said: “It’s normal that management works to prepare various negotiations so there are alternatives if it doesn’t go through. I won’t deny we spoke to Giroud’s entourage, we will evaluate the situation.
“The two moves could be linked, but what doesn’t happen on the transfer market today could happen tomorrow.”
Should Giroud move to Inter, Villa do have other options with a move for Genk marksman Mbwana Samatta “very close” according to Smith.
