Frank Lampard has just had his standard prematch press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game with Arsenal, and in it he gave much more away than usual.
So far his managerial reign has been dominated by nice, friendly answers that entertain the media without revealing too much, but that all chagned today as he spoke pretty specifically about his team’s need for signings.
Football.London had the full quotes from the manager’s presser:
“Long-term [transfer in January] is difficult. There haven’t been so many. If you have to look short term then it’s something that we will look at.”
That’s as solid a confirmation as you’re ever likely to get from a manager about their needs in the market. Any more clear than that and prices start to go up.
His short-term / long-term ideas do have some sense. We’ve got a superbly talented youngster in almost every position, and don’t need to look long term necessarily. A stop gap solution with some experience could be a good a solution as any.
