Chelsea news: Edinson Cavani transfer latest, Tammy Abraham’s message, fresh Jadon Sancho twist

There are now just eight days left in the January transfer window – and Chelsea fans are still waiting for news of a big signing.

The Blues have only added 16-year-old striker Bryan Fiabema to their ranks so far in the January window, with the teenager becoming the first post-transfer ban signing made by the club.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a number of players , but there have been no new additions to boost Frank Lampard’s first team squad as the Blues look to try and keep hold of fourth spot in the Premier League.

Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday allowed Manchester United and Wolves the opportunity to close the gap on the Blues, who now prepare for their FA Cup fourth round clash with Hull City this weekend.

Edinson Cavani transfer update

The Blues have been heavily linked with signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani this month.

Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard spoke positively about the PSG star earlier this week as he hinted at a possible move for the forward.

And Chelsea have reportedly now made a move to try and sign Cavani on loan.

According to  The Times , the Blues have offered to sign Edinson Cavani on loan until the end of the season, with the report claiming that Chelsea are willing to pay a loan fee of £5 million and would cover the striker’s £360,000-a-week wages.

This comes after an injury to Tammy Abraham in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal, with  Lampard admitting  that January may be a time when his side look for short-term solutions.
