Thomas Lemar to Arsenal: Contrasting reports on £33m deal, Gunners ‘in talks’ with Atletico

There is just one week to go until the clubs are no longer able to do any transfer deals.

With not long to go, the scramble to complete deals in order to strengthen squads is starting to get underway, with Arsenal one of the teams looking to add players in the next few days.

Mikel Arteta is keen to add to his defensive options during the window, but that doesn’t stop him also looking at adding reinforcements in more attacking areas.

One of the players being linked with a move is Atletico Madrid man Thomas Lemar, who has also been linked with a move to Tottenham, Chelsea and even Wolverhampton Wanderers.

£92m bid

Back in the summer of 2017, Arsenal were first linked with a move for Lemar whilst he was still an AS Monaco player and he was seen as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez amid links to Manchester City.

In the end, Sanchez ended up staying at the Emirates until January.

The reason for that could have been because the Gunners weren’t able to secure a deal for Lemar and not without a lack of trying as Arsene Wenger revealed the club made a huge offer.

“He is always ready to receive the ball, he is quite complete in both defence and attack.”
