Chelsea player ratings: Mateo Kovacic and Fikayo Tomori excel but Pedro awful in Hull City win

Willy Caballero

A couple of moments of coming to claim from crosses and did well in those situations. However, Hull didn’t threaten his goal at all in the first half.

There was some pressure from Hull in the second half, but they never really threatened his goal once again. Nothing he could do about the goal, with it deflecting in from a free-kick. 6

Cesar Azpilicueta

Got forward really well in the first half and was a key part in Michy Batshuayi’s opener. Some sloppy moments, but defensively did well in the opening 45 minutes.

Had to really calm the team down towards the start of the second half, with the Blues almost frantic. But he defended well through most of the game. 7

Fikayo Tomori

Pretty solid in the first half and read any danger well. Didn’t give Hull anything of a chance throughout the opening moments.

A couple of difficult moments in the second half, mixing-up with Zouma. However, he was really solid under pressure and took his goal well with a neat finish. 8

Kurt Zouma

Like several of the other players, some really poor moments with the ball at his feet. Looked rusty at times, but defensively was pretty secure during the first half.

Not a great start to the second half at all, with miss-kicks and putting the Blues under real pressure. Never really looked solid in the second half and seemed to struggle at times. 5

Marcos Alonso

Some poor passing early in the game, but got down the left flank pretty well. However, some of the crossing was poor. Jarrod Bowen also gave him a tough time going the other way.

In the second half he didn’t really ooze with much confidence and Bowen got at him a few times again. Poor to give away the free-kick for the Hull goal. 4

Mason Mount

Was superb on occasions when he beat his man and ran at the Hull defence. The frustrating thing,…
