Chelsea go into their FA Cup fourth-round test against Hull City with the chance to banish memories of two poor recent results.
The 1-0 defeat to Newcastle at St. James Park was followed by a disappointing draw against 10-man Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues saw off Nottingham Forest by two goals to nil to reach this stage, with opponents Hull edging past Rotherham by a score of three goals to two.
Two players that won’t feature for Frank Lampard’s side at the KCOM Stadium are Tammy Abraham and Kepa Arrizabalaga, with the former ruled out through injury.
“The good news is he hasn’t fractured anything,” the former England midfielder said of his star striker on Friday.
“That is the good news, but we still don’t know the full extent, it’s not clear at the moment.”
He added when asked if he might sign a new forward during the next six days: “I think the impetus to bring in a striker or a player to get on the end of chances is there.
“The recent games have shown that. When you are creating 20 chances a game it is clear.
“With Olivier [Giroud] it is the same situation. There has been contact from other clubs. He’s still our player.”
