Ben Chilwell to Chelsea: Man United interest, Manchester City’s decision and Leicester’s warning

There is now a matter of days left for clubs to complete January deals, with Chelsea looking to make additions between now and deadline day.

Chelsea were able to make signings during the summer transfer window, but having had the transfer ban lifted one window early will be on the look out to add to their squad.

Frank Lampard showed signs of frustration at the transfer activity so far after the FA Cup win over Hull City on Saturday, as despite being linked to a number of players, the Blues are yet to sign anyone.

One player who has been heavily linked is Leicester and England full-back Ben Chilwell, although a January move now looks unlikely, reports suggest that he could be a main target going into the summer window.

So, what is the latest on the Foxes’ defender’s future? Take a look at the roundup below.

New contract

If the Foxes do decide to cash in on Chilwell they will certainly pocket a handsome transfer fee.

This is because they tied the left-back down to a new contract as recently as October of last year.

Simply put, City will be in a strong negotiation position if and when the time comes to sell Chilwell, who spoke positively about his future at the King Power Stadium upon signing his new deal.

“Leicester’s always felt like the right place for me. I’ve had fantastic support at every level since I arrived nine years ago and I’ve always felt opportunities would come if I continued to work hard,” he said .

“That’s a great feeling to have as a young player.

“The Club has really big, long-term plans and it’s really exciting to know that I’m going to be part of that.”
