Chelsea face the prospect of squaring up to Liverpool in the fifth-round of the FA Cup after being drawn at home to either the Reds or Shrewsbury Town in Monday night’s FA Cup draw.
But before Frank Lampard and his players can even think about that task, the Blues boss will no doubt be keen to make his first signing in the Chelsea managerial hot-seat.
The Stamford Bridge club were under a transfer embargo back in the summer, meaning Lampard was not able to stamp his own authority on his squad after being lured from his post at Derby County.
The very top of Lampard’s wishlist is believed an attacker, with the likes of Edison Cavani and Moussa Dembele being heavily linked, both of whom currently play their football in Ligue 1 for PSG and Lyon, respectively.

Blues eye double deal
According to ESPN, Chelsea want to add Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell and Ajax star Hakim Ziyech to the ranks – but not until the summer.
Chilwell, 23, has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best left-back’s in recent seasons, delivering a string of fine performances for Leicester City.
Ziyech, meanwhile, was instrumental in Ajax’s run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals last season, with his creativity in midfield rarely going unnoticed.
It is thought they would cost a combined total of £111m in the summer – Chilwell valued at £80million and Ziyech available for £31million.
Mertens deal in doubt
