Chelsea should try to strengthen with three new signings before the January transfer deadline on Friday.
That is the view of former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, who has narrowed down a list of potential signings Frank Lampard should look to make.
The Blues are yet to make any signings this month despite Lampard insisting he needs at least one striker to help out Tammy Abraham.
The club were buoyed by the news that their transfer ban had been lifted by FIFA after they were not allowed to sign anyone in the summer.
ESPN FC pundit Hislop was given a list of eight players who have been linked with a move to Chelsea and his task was to pick the three the Blues should attempt to sign.
At No 3 on the list was AC Milan and Poland striker Krzysztof Piatek.
“I’m actually going to go Piatek and I need to explain why,” Hislop said. “I like Tammy Abraham a lot and I think he is an incredible talent.
“I think part of the drop off that you’re seeing from Tammy Abraham right now is that there is not enough competition for places for him, as an out-and-out striker.

“So while I will say you might not need an Edinson Cavani because that takes away that position and I think relegates Tammy Abraham to the bench, I do feel he needs somebody who will push him to be better.
“I think [Abraham] will be great for Chelsea in the long term.”
Napoli forward Dries Mertens has also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and Hislop had the Belgian in at No 2.
“Dries Martens is a player I’ve admired a lot,” Hislop added. Now, as we sit right now, I’m not sure that he wants or needs to leave Napoli.
