Chelsea striker did not miss training despite transfer frustration » Chelsea News

Chelsea have failed to sign a striker, meaning Olivier Giroud will stay at the club this January.

That’s according to various transfer-y sources out there on deadline day, declaring the Blues’ various desperate attempts to replace him all dead.

Being told Chelsea’s attempts to secure a replacement for Olivier Giroud are over & he’ll stay at #CFC until the summer regardless of whether he plays. Would take something extraordinary to change the situation before tonight’s 11pm deadline @TheAthleticUK

That means another six months sitting on the bench for Chelsea, likely costing the France striker his place at the Euros this summer.

That must be massively frustrating for him, and there were rumours he had missed training as a last ditch effort to force a move. But David Ornstein of the Athletic Tweeted this an hour ago to quell those whispers:

Giroud is training with Chelsea today #CFC

That’s good to hear. The last thing we needed on top of this utter failure to sign any players is the ones we’re left with getting unsettled. Frank Lampard has praised how professional the former Arsenal man has been all season, and we didn’t expect him to ruin all that now.
