Loftus-Cheek, Abraham, Pulisic and James – Latest Chelsea team news ahead of Leicester City trip

It’s a massive day for Chelsea in their hopes of securing Champions League football next season.

The Blues, who are in fourth place in the Premier League table, face Leicester City, who sit one place above them in third position, at the King Power Stadium in the day’s early kick off.

Both teams had a successful time in the FA Cup last weekend, making it to the fifth round, but while Frank Lampard’s side have had a free week to prepare, the Foxes were in Carabao Cup semi-final action, losing 2-1 to Aston Villa on Tuesday night thanks to a stoppage time goal.

This afternoon’s game is the first after the closure of the January transfer window, but as the Blues didn’t make a single signing there will be no debut handed out by Lampard.

But what other players could be available for the match?

Take a look at the latest from the treatment room at Cobham.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is stepping up his recovery from injury.

Images emerged of the midfielder taking part in training with the first-team squad ahead of the FA Cup fourth round tie with the Tigers.

Posting on their Twitter account, the Blues shared a picture of the England international taking part in the session.

It is unknown if Loftus-Cheek will be available to make the squad for the game against the Foxes as Chelsea are unlikely to rush the player back after so long on the sidelines.

Unsurprisingly, he wasn’t named in the squad for the FA Cup clash.

He made 40 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists.
