And Solskjaer has a decision to make over the next fortnight as to how he approaches United’s next game in west London.
Their winter break means the Red Devils don’t play until Monday, February 17 (8pm) when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
Marcus Rashford still won’t be available come the middle of the month as he continues to recover from a back problem.
United have been strengthened going forward, though, by the acquisition of Bruno Fernandes, who shone on debut in the No.10 role at home to Wolves.
United’s striker will finally be getting quality service, but Shearer insists Solskjaer should opt for 18-year-old Greenwood over his more senior options.
