Latest Chelsea transfer news: Werner issues come and get me plea, Cavani admission, Kepa exit

The recent January transfer window proved to be a very quiet period for Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard, with him unable to strengthen his squad.

After seeing their transfer ban lifted in early December, it was expected that Lampard would be handed the opportunity to make his first moves and stamp his own authority on the team he inherited last summer.

But despite being linked with a whole host of names, including Leicester City left-back Ben Chillwell and Dries Mertens of Napoli, no moves ended up coming to fruition, meaning Lampard will have to try again in the summer to try and bolster his team.

Though the summer window may seem quite a way off, the rumours are continuing to float around.

Here, we round-up the day’s latest Chelsea transfer news.

Cavani agent admission

PSG striker Edison Cavani was a player that was heavily linked with a January move to Stamford Bridge, with the Uruguay international keen to secure a move away from the French capital.

However, Cavani’s hopes of ending his seven-year spell with the Ligue 1 champions were dealt a huge blow due to his wage demands, Football.London reports.

The 32-year-old’s agent, Walter Fernando, who also happens to be his brother, has been accused of making “excessive demands.”

Werner drops Premier League hint

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has dropped a huge hint about his future, revealing that he one day plans to play abroad.

Werner has been subject of interest from a host of big European clubs over the past few months, but it is thought that Liverpool would be his preferred destination, say The Mail.

The Germany international has interest from Chelsea and Manchester United alongside Liverpool, meaning there could prove to be a real battle to land the striker’s signature.
