Chelsea have been linked with a move for Ajax attacker Hakim Ziyech in the summer.
The Evening Standard’s James Olley reports that among other summer moves, the Morocco international is on the list of potential signings to try and upgrade Frank Lampard’s squad after a disappointing January window.
They write that, “Wilfried Zaha and Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech are among several other wide options being looked at” should Jadon Sancho prove impossible to prise away from Borussia Dortmund.
His star has waned a little this season – how could it not, after a run last year where they reach the Champions League semi finals – but he established himself in the popular imagination on that run as a truly exciting and creative attacking midfield threat, the kind that Chelsea desperately lack at times.
It’s a long way until the summer window now, but we will be making serious moves, and it’s time to start considering some of these rumours as potentially realistic.
