Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is one of the hottest young prospects at the club right now and that is across the board, not just at youth level.
In fact, if it wasn’t for Jorginho staying fit, Gilmour could well have been on many more appearances so far this season.
His route into the Blues first team squad at the moment is likely to involve a loan move in the summer in order to gain some senior first team experience.
However, if there are any injuries, fatigue or suspensions in the Chelsea team for the rest of this season, Gilmour is right on the verge of breaking in and he would certainly get that experience then.
He will also be watching very closely the words spoken by the agent of Jorhino today, suggesting that they would evaluate some expected proposals to move away from Chelsea in the summer if they arrive.
Gilmour would feel that if Jorginho left, under Frank Lampard he may well get a shot of a regular first team spot in the squad in his place, and he would certainly deserve it.
In fact, I’d have no concerns if he was in the first team as a regular right now, he is more than good enough.
