Mateo Kovacic believes Frank Lampard has a bright future ahead of him as a manager and will guide Chelsea to success.
The Chelsea head coach is in his first season as a Premier League manager, having taken over from Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge last summer, after just one year in management at Championship side Derby County.
He has guided the Blues into the top four in the Premier League with 13 games to play, with Chelsea having a four-point advantage over London rivals Tottenham in the race to qualify for the Champions League next season.
And Kovacic has been full of praise for the 41-year-old, who he has described as an “exceptional manager”.

“When the club announced him as their new coach, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I came to Chelsea under [Maurizio] Sarri, but [Frank] Lampard is an exceptional manager,” he told Four Four Two.
“He has kept the character he had as a player in his personality as a coach, which has inspired all of us. He commits himself with everything he’s got.
“Training is always challenging and different from last season – that’s probably the main difference between Lampard and Sarri, who made the concept of training monotonous. There were a lot of similar training sessions with a focus on tactical preparation.

“Frank has a bright future ahead of him, and if he gets enough time he can take Chelsea to many more successes.
The 25-year-old has been a regular under Lampard, playing 32 times for the Blues in all competitions so far this season, and the Croatian midfielder has highlighted the key differences between the Blues legend and his predecessor.
“I’m really enjoying it so far. I play with the ball a lot more and have greater freedom of movement – that’s why I think I’ve put in some great performances this season,” said Kovacic.
