Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is still sweating on the fitness of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic.
The Blues are in the midst of their winter break and will next return to action against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
But their clash with the Red Devils will be the first of three heavyweight clashes in eight days with Tottenham and Bayern Munich in the Champions League to follow.
Lampard will therefore hope to be back to a full compliment of players having failed to secure any of his January targets.
American Pulisic showed signs he was about to standard producing the form that made Chelsea part with £57m to sign him from Borussia Dortmund.
The winger picked up a tendon injury several weeks ago and it is touch and go as to whether he will return for the jam packed fixture list.
“We tried to get him out there last week, step it up a little bit, but we had to pull out of that,” claimed Lampard.
“The break might have come at a good time, it buys us a couple of weeks.
Frank Lampard is hoping to soon have Ruben Loftus-Cheek available
“Of course you miss him. He’s a quality player and he was having a really good patch pre-Christmas. Others have to stand up too, but of course we’ll be happy when he’s back.”
Loftus-Cheek, a long-term absentee, is closing in on his return having returned to training recently.
Chelsea’s Twitter posted a picture of the midfielder in training but he is unlikely to be rushed back despite the importance of their upcoming games.

Another man whose fitness has been a slight issue, although it won’t affect Lampard first XI selection, is Olivier Giroud.
The striker missed Chelse’s FA Cup game at Hull City with a “tiny” problem but will be fit enough to occupy a spot on the bench if needed.
