Chelsea chief Roman Abramovich has identified Moussa Dembele and Lautaro Martinez as his top attacking targets for the summer transfer window.
Frank Lampard was desperate to get his hands on another striker in the January market, but in the end he was left disappointed when the Blues failed to bolster their frontline.
While Tammy Abraham has been clinical in front of goal this season, with 13 league goals already under his belt, Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud have proved inadequate backup options and Lampard was therefore keen to splash the cash.
The Chelsea manager will hope to see a new centre-forward arrive at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, and Abramovich has already started making plans for the summer.
According to Calciomercato, the Blues are one of several teams interested in Inter Milan frontman Martinez.
The Argentinian, 22, has bagged 16 goals in 27 games for Inter in 2019/20 – setting a number of teams on alert.

Barcelona are said to be in pole position to prise him away from the San Siro, with Lionel Messi urging the Spanish champions to target his compatriot when the summer window opens.
Martinez reportedly has a £94m release clause in his current Inter contract, which Barca are prepared to meet given the absurdities of today’s market.

As well as Barca and Chelsea, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United are also eyeing up a potential deal for the player.
However, the Blues may only turn to Martinez if they fail to secure a deal for No.1 target Dembele this summer.
The Lyon ace was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in January, having netted 18 goals in 33 appearances this term.
