Andre Onana chooses £34m Chelsea transfer as Ajax keeper snubs Spurs

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana is ready to provide a solution for Chelsea by joining this summer.

Frank Lampard is looking to replace No.1 Kepa Arrizabalaga as the Spain international has struggled between the sticks.

Kepa was dropped by the Blues boss at Leicester last weekend, as veteran backup Willy Caballero was preferred in goal.

Ex-Manchester City shot-stopper Caballero, though, also failed to show he can be totally relied upon in the 2-2 draw.

As a result, Chelsea are considering axing their £72m record signing in favour of a new arrival.

Onana has impressed in Holland with Ajax, and the 23-year-old may complete a switch to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

However, according to Dutch outlet Voetbal Nieuws , Onana has chosen Chelsea over their London rivals.

Spurs are subsequently set to miss out, with a £34m move to Chelsea on the cards.

French giants PSG and La Liga champions Barcelona are admirers of Onana as well.

But it is the Blues who are frontrunners to secure the Cameroon international’s signature.

In the meantime, Kepa must regain his place in the side and prove his worth in west London.

The out-of-form 25-year-old built up a strong reputation in Spain with Athletic Bilbao prior to his Chelsea transfer in the summer of 2018.

However, he now faces a battle to even feature in the Blues’ next outing when they host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League in a weeks’ time.
