Former Premier League midfielder Don Hutchison has said that Chelsea will make a summer move for Jadon Sancho due to their lack of goals from midfield this season.
The Blues currently find themselves in fourth place in the table, two points above fifth place Sheffield United, although Frank Lampard’s men do have a game in hand over the Blades.
Chelsea have shown inconsistent form of late, winning just one of their last five league games.
But Hutchison believes that should Chelsea achieve Champions League football, then Sancho will be their number one transfer target ahead of the new season.

“They’ve somehow, by hook or by crook, got to get top four because I can more or less guarantee the one player they’ll go and get is Jadon Sancho,” he said on Optus Sport’s The Weekend Review.
“It was the same when (Maurizio) Sarri was there. The midfield players; Jorginho doesn’t score unless he’s scoring penalties, (Mateo) Kovacic for a man of his ability doesn’t score enough, when Ross Barkley is playing he doesn’t get them, (Ngolo) Kante, Willian should score a lot more, (Callum) Hudson-Odoi, who is coming off the back of an injury doesn’t get enough goals.
“So that’s why I’m saying, I think if they can secure top four at the end of the season, they go all out in the summer and they get Jadon Sancho.”
Sancho has impressed for both club and country in recent months. The 19-year-old has scored 15 goals and provided 17 assists in 29 appearances for Borussia Dortmund this season.
Former Arsenal man Lee Dixon also believes that goals is an area where Lampard will need to strengthen at the end of the season.
