Chelsea will look to hit the ground running when they face Manchester United following the first ever Premier League winter beak.

The Blues host Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side on Monday evening as the first of three big huge games at Stamford Bridge over the next fortnight.

After Man United, Chelsea are at home against Tottenham before they host Bayern Munich in first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie.

Frank Lampard’s men drew 2-2 with top-four rivals Leicester City in their last game before the winter break, defender Antonio Rudiger proving to be the hero with a brace of goals.

The good news for Lampard is that the injury list is getting smaller, with the winter break giving players a chance to step up their recovery.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is close to making his return to action.

Images emerged of the midfielder taking part in training with the first-team squad ahead of the FA Cup fourth round tie against Hull.

Posting on their Twitter account, the Blues shared a picture of the England international taking part in the session.

While Chelsea are unlikely to rush the player back after so long on the sidelines, he has taken part in his first match – a behind-closed-doors friendly for the Chelsea Under-23s against Brentford B.

A return straight after the winter break is unlikely, but his comeback will be welcomed with games starting to come thick and fast.
