Added to that is the news of a reported move for Ajax star Hakim Ziyech.
The Blues are said to have agreed a deal with the Eredivisie club worth £38million, and personal terms have reportedly been agreed with the Morocco international.
Our Chelsea correspondent Oliver Harbord undertook a Q&A with fans on Wednesday, and here we take a look at some of the key questions and Blues talking points.
Q: ‘Is there substance to the Ziyech rumours?’
“It is pretty clear that Frank Lampard wanted a forward in January and will still want one this summer. Hakim Ziyech was certainly on that list last month and the fact that there are now concrete reports is no surprise.
“De Telegraaf are a reputable source when it comes to Ajax and Ziyech at around €45million appears to be a transfer Chelsea are trying to make happen.
“Lampard is a fan of the Moroccan, who would be 27 if he was to join in the summer, and with a wand of a left foot he could really add something to the forward line and into the number 10 position.
“It is a cheaper option, but with real experience he could give an extra edge to the Blues. You only have to see what he did against Chelsea in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge.
