Chelsea’s wage bill disclosed and how it compares with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United

Chelsea have the fifth biggest wage bill in the Premier League, it has been confirmed.

Sporting Intelligence have published the global sports salaries survey for 2019, which details the basic annual pay in the world’s most popular sports leagues, not including signing-on fees, loyalty bonuses or performance add-ons.

Eight different sports are included in the survey, with 350 teams from 18 leagues across 12 different countries.

And Chelsea are 45th on the global list for their wage bill, with the average annual pay standing at £4,774,000, which equates to an average weekly pay of £91,808.

Chelsea are one place behind London rivals Arsenal on the global list, who have an average weekly pay of £92,120.

The Blues are down ten places on the global sports salaries list from 2018, having been 35th in last year’s survey.

According to the survey, Chelsea are fifth on the list of average wages in the Premier League, behind Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

The Blues are, however, above Everton, Tottenham and Leicester City, who are all currently in the battle to finish in the top four.

Manchester City have the highest average pay of any Premier League club, standing at £134,375 weekly, which puts them 13th on the global list.
