Latest Chelsea transfer rumours: Fresh Sancho boost, Boga battle, Blues enter Bellingham race

The summer transfer window may not be open for business right now but that has not stopped Chelsea from sealing their first signing of the summer.

The Blues have reached an agreement with Dutch club Ajax for the signing of attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech, who will join the Blues on July 1 for a fee understood to be around €40million, with it rising to €44million with add-ons.

The signing of the Moroccan international will no doubt please head coach Frank Lampard, who was left frustrated after a very quiet January, in which he failed to bring any new players through the door at Stamford Bridge.

With the deal to sign Ziyech in July now in place, Lampard will be hoping to see even more faces follow through Ziyech to West London.

With all of that in mind, here is a round-up of the day’s very latest Chelsea transfer news.

Chelsea tipped to land Sancho

Former England international Glen Johnson has admitted that Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho would be better off making a switch to either Chelsea or Liverpool in the summer transfer window, opposed to joining Manchester United.

Sancho, who has took the Bundesliga by storm with his skill and quality, has been subject of interest from a host of Premier League clubs.

But Johnson, who played for Liverpool during his playing days, has admitted that Sancho would be better off joining Chelsea or Liverpool in the summer because a move to Old Trafford would be a ‘disaster for his career.’

Johnson told talkSPORT: “If he was to go to Chelsea or Liverpool or maybe a club in Spain, because he won’t be needed to come straight in and impress, they would bleed him into the team over time which would help his development. He might not be guaranteed to start every week, but he’d be doing it in the right way.

“Whereas if he went to United, yes he’d start every week but the team are struggling so it would be hard for him to find his feet.”
