Young Chelsea goalkeeper reveals how club have helped him on important loan » Chelsea News

Chelsea have a number of young goalkeepers in their ranks, all of them battling for the chance to compete in the first team.

It looked like it was going to be an impossible dream when Chelsea signed the world’s most expensive keeper on a super-long contract, but Kepa’s decline since then must have given all those young stoppers the feeling they might just have a chance at some point.

One of the more senior in the group of goalies is Nathan Baxter, now 21 and with 150+ senior appearances to his name.

Currently on loan at Ross County in Scotland, Baxter spoke in quotes picked up by WAGNH about how former Chelsea keeper coach and current loan-monitor-guy Christophe Lollichon is watching him almost every week:

“Christophe has probably been to half the games I’ve played on loan and he’s my day-to-day contact. He provides the technical help and support to me, which is really important because it means I get the best of both worlds,” Baxter explained.

“Often the goalkeeping coaches I’ve worked with at clubs have been focused on the result of the team and encouraged me to be very pragmatic in my approach but I also get to learn off Christophe, who’s more interested in my progression as a goalkeeper,” he went on.

That’s great to hear. The idea was have players who get to be out on loan and playing every week, yet also get coaching from our top coaches who are watching from the stands, is very positive.
