“Christian trained with the U23s today, which is hopefully a short period until he comes back into our training. He won’t be fit.

“Ruben won’t be fit for this game. He is getting closer and training a lot, he just needs more match fitness to be in consideration. It’s great to have him nearly back.

“Tammy is still feeling the effects, to be honest. We had to take him out of training a couple of times this week. He trained today, so again we’re hopeful. It’s to be assessed this weekend.”

Ziyech, what can Chelsea fans look forward to seeing?

“I think quality in what he’s got. In terms of the ability to make assists and score goals. We have spoken a lot this season of maybe having a lot of the ball but not the final bit. Hopefully next season he can be a player to help provide that with his quality. With his passing, final ball and shooting. He will have to fit into the way we work here, the energy we want off the ball, as everybody does. But the quality he has got will be there for fans to see.”

His performance in the 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, was that what convinced you to sign him?

“Not quite, I had to been watching him a lot. The Champions League run they had last year, particularly impressed with the game at Tottenham at Wembley last year. And I have followed him very closely since. I have watched him a lot and know about him. It is important that we bring in people for where we want to go. He ticks lots of boxes. I’m delighted to be in a position to say that he will be our player next season.”
